"Remember who you are, who they are, and where you are all coming from. We were all somebody before we stepped through those doors. We all might be different, but we all belong here; we belong here together. We all come from different backgrounds and that effects who we are when we are here, but somehow, we can use that. We all have something great to gain from each other. The trick is remembering that, and celebrating it."
It wasn't said in regards to adoption, but it kind of stuck with me. Then last weekend as I was discussing adoption with a friend, and trying to help her understand why people would ever want an open adoption, it hit me once again. This quote, I think explains it a lot. We need each other. All of us. Without even one of the people in the adoption triad, no one else's dreams would come true. And that is something worth celebrating.
