Swimming
We decided that Ethan needed somewhere to spend some of his energy, so we signed him up for swimming lessons. He LOVES it. His teacher is amazing with him, and he really is learning a lot. I took some pictures this week, but we are sitting way up in the balcony watching him on the very farthest end of the pool, so the pictures aren't the best quality.

Photos for Ethan's Big Day
Ethan has a special day coming up. (Actually it's Adia's special day too, they both have their birthday on January 29th, but Ethan's birthday is a significant one) He will be eight years old, and has chosen to be baptised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In honor of that we wanted to have a special photo shoot of him in his new suit. It turned out really good. At first he was cold and wouldn't smile or even look at me, but then I mentioned that we were staying outside and I was going to snap pictures until I got a good shot, and he knew all too well that I wasn't kidding, so he decided to cooperate. He even started to enjoy himself, I think, though he will never admit it. So here are a few of the shots I love.

And this is the final product. I love the way it turned out. Adia likes that her picture is on it, and Ethan is just excited to be getting baptised. (Seriously, he invites every person he sees, all of his friends, the mailman, people we meet at the park... everyone)

Every 4 year old's (and parent's) worst fear...
We were driving in the car this evening and the kids noticed that there was a car behind us. Always pretending they said "oh no! Someone is following us" They were pretending to be worried and freaked out-so funny. Trying to play along I said " Oh, boy, guys who is it?" Ethan said "I think it's a STRANGER!" (Their momma is queen of the stranger danger and he knew that this is the thing that would really scare me.) Adia came back with "No, it's even worse...It's a TEENAGER!!! "
Later, after I finished laughing I asked why a teenager was even worse than a stranger. She answered that Dad and I were always saying how we are so scared of when she becomes a teenager, so she figured it must be bad. She's pretty close to right.

Dashing Through The Snow
One of the favorite presents this year were a set of sleds from Grandma and Grandpa Fuller. On Christmas morning after breakfast we all suited up and headed outside to break them in. We are so lucky that our grandpa has a "sledding hill maker" (Loader) He bladed all of the snow into a big huge pile. It made the perfect sledding hill, and the kids climbed up and slid down for hours until they were so cold they had to go in for some cocoa and a little time by the fire. Once they were warmed up though they headed right back out for some more fun.
Dad running to pull them down the driveway... Fun!
Dad and Grandpa building the ultimate sledding track... WAY FUN!!!

More Traditions
As I mentioned in my last post we made doughnuts on the day after Christmas. This is a tradition we have done every year for... well probably my whole life, I never remember NOT doing it. For neighbor gifts each year my mom makes up a HUGE batch of doughnuts, I'm not kidding, it makes hundreds. She fries them up and while they are still finger burning hot we dip them in glaze and decorate them. Since we moved away I have missed out on helping her, and they are the best right when they are warm, so she can't really send them to me. I mentioned this to my mom on the phone one day in December, so as a special treat she did a re-do just for me:) (The only problem is that she usually makes enough for the whole town, and this time there was just our little family to eat them all... Hmmm I wonder why it feels like I gained 10 pounds over the holiday?...)

The holes are the very best. They are just the right size. Bobbi and I requested to have mostly these - this way you can try a whole bunch of different combinations of toppings and not have to eat 29 doughnuts- see, we're health conscious:) Unfortunately, they are really hard for my poor mom to make because the little suckers flip over so easily that it's hard to cook them evenly on both sides. Sorry Mom.
Rewind- Christmas
We were going to spend Christmas morning at our house and go down to our parent's houses on the afternoon of Christmas day. But then at the last minute Troy got Christmas Eve off work, so we decided to head down a day early. We spent Christmas eve dinner with Troy's parents in Monticello. We ate yummy food, and they spoiled us rotten with tons of presents. We had a lot of fun visiting them, but in the mad rush to unpack at my parent's house and then jump in the car and head to Troy's parent's house, my camera got left behind, so no pictures. It was great though, trust me:)
The sleeping arrangements were strange that night with my dad sleeping in with Ethan and my mom sleeping in Adia's bed with her. My Grandma and Neldon slept over that night too. How fun to have Christmas morning with Grandparents AND great-grandparents right?! Troy and I had a blissful night's sleep with no one kicking us, peeing on us, waking us up for a drink, or needing "to talk". Around 5:30 on Christmas morning I think my Dad had enough of Ethan waking him up, and sent him into our room to get us up. After that we found out that everyone except Adia was already awake anyway, so we woke her up and got the morning started off right. Santa had used the key aunt Cassie and Uncle Levi had given us to come in. He had eaten his cookies, left reindeer milk on the front step, and a stash of presents by the fireplace. He left Ethan a "spider man gun that shoots webs"(The webs come out in the form of your choice of silly string or water) Now I hope that will stop him from looking for spiders to bite him so that he can have webs shoot out of his wrist... time will tell... Santa brought Adia an easy bake oven, and she has been in charge of family home evening treats ever since. The kids also got a whole ton of other great gifts including a guitar, a doll house, doll house furniture, a gun that shoots rubber balls at an eye popping speed, and two really awesome sleds (Post on the sleds yet to come) to name a few things. We played with Christmas presents all day and ate too much food. In the afternoon we went to my grandma and grandpa Fuller's and visited with them. It was great until Ethan tried to "cook" some dried apples on their wood stove and ended up with some nasty burns on his fingers. Oh well, maybe someday he will learn that when mom says "don't touch that, it's hot." she isn't kidding...
The next day we went to visit Uncle Levi's family and Uncle Jeremy's family for a little while. Then Aunt Bobbi, Uncle Jim and Kalista came out to Grandma's house and we made doughnuts and opened even more presents, and ate even more food!
The next day we went to church and then the kids stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while Troy and I came home for a few days to ourselves.
It was a really great Christmas. Thanks to everyone who made our holidays wonderful, and who make our life great all year round!
Ethan's gun came with a mask that he insisted on wearing until he kept running into things because he couldn't see anything out of it.
Trying out the sleds.
Opening THE BIG ONE
Strapping on the web shooter as Troy tells him "If you shoot me...or mom...or Grandma, or Grandpa...or Grandma Bobbie or Neldon I will take it away. And don't shoot Adia, or the TV, or the furniture... Maybe you better go outside for this, get your coat on..."
Adia telling us what's what.
Adia putting the furniture that Grandma and Grandpa gave her into the doll house that Dad and I built for her. I need to take a picture of it, it's really beautiful. All of our hard work was totally worth it.
Grandpa reading the letter from Santa thanking the kids for being good and telling them to check out on the porch for their reindeer milk (The kids choose a gift to give to Jesus each year -being kind, doing what's right, donating toys etc.- and in return Santa leaves them reindeer milk -milk that tastes like sugary vanilla cream that freezes slightly after being left on the porch all night and turns into pure heavenly bliss- because Santa knows what it's all about. Santa loves Jesus too!)
